Jr. Pee Wee Hornets close year with 9-2-1 record. The Jr. Pee Wee North team's successful year came to an end with a ....34-6 loss to the Western NY Bills in Eastern Region play at McAvoy Park in Rochester NY. The Bills, the Eastern Region runner up last year, jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. The Hornets responded with a long drive that ended at the Bills 8 yard line. The Bills responded with two more scores to take a 21-0 lead at halftime. The Hornets held the powerful running game of the Bills during the 3rd quarter and had two long drives that were stopped in the Bills end of the field. Early in the 4th quarter the Bills broke a long run to take a 27-0 lead. The Hornets showed great pride by driving for a score on their next possession. The drive was capped off by a 4th down touchdown pass from Jake Wittig to Griffin Cicci leaving the score at 27-6 with just under four minutes left in the game. The Bills closed the scoring with a late touchdown. The Hornets showed an impressive running and passing attack througout the game. Quarterback Jake Wittig threw for over 100 yards and had 11 completions. Taylor Smach had six receptions while Chris Marnell and Griffin Cicci had two catches each. The running of Smach, Wittig, Marnell, and Ryan Tatu led the Hornets deep into Bills territory throughout the game. Team members of the Central New York Champions included Brett Barlow, Tristan Broddus, Teddy Caputo, Griffin Cicci, Ryan Cicci, Dan Damico, Abe Danaher, Brett Dewey, Nate King, Jack Kinsella, Chris Marnell, Tommy O'Connor, Matt Palotta, Matt Ponzi, Eric Robinson, Sam Sauffer, Jack Sheridan, Taylor Smach, Corey Stein, Ryan Tatu, and Jake Wittig. |
